About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Brooklyn’s vibrant Williamsburg neighborhood, Los Primos is a culinary gem that offers an authentic taste of the Caribbean and Latin America, with a special nod to Dominican and Puerto Rican flavors. This beloved local spot, located at 704 Grand St, Brooklyn, has been delighting patrons for over three decades with its warm atmosphere and consistently satisfying dishes.

The cuisine at Los Primos is a celebration of bold, comforting flavors that will transport your palate straight to the islands. Whether you're craving the crispy golden tostones that deliver a perfect balance of crunch and saltiness, or the hearty, soul-soothing mondongo soup brimming with rich, savory depth, each dish is prepared with care and authenticity. Their menu is a vibrant tapestry that includes favorites like garlic lobster — a garlicky, succulent delight — and the unique camarofongo to pilon, a fusion of shrimp and mofongo that offers a symphony of textures and tastes.

For those seeking filling, soul-nourishing meals, the bandeja paisa stands out, featuring an irresistible assortment of beans, rice, meat, and plantains, each bite rich with traditional aromas and spices. Fried chicken here is elevated beyond the ordinary into crispy, juicy perfection, and potato balls — a crowd favorite — offer comforting, golden bites of pure deliciousness. Seafood enthusiasts will appreciate the mofongo de pulpo, where tender octopus melds beautifully with mashed plantains, creating a dish that's both exotic and deeply satisfying.

The salad selection is also notable, with fresh options such as the avocado salad showcasing ripe, creamy slices that add a refreshing counterbalance to the richer entrees. For a lighter touch, the mixed mixta salad brings together lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, corn, and beets, providing crisp, garden-fresh flavors that cleanse the palate.

Diners also rave about the affordable yet thoughtfully crafted pasta specialties. Whether it’s spaghetti tossed with succulent shrimp in the Pasta Con Camarones or the indulgent seafood medley in Pasta Con Mariscos, each pasta dish bursts with bright, familiar flavors complemented by tender textures that satisfy both seafood lovers and pasta aficionados alike.

The welcoming and genuine atmosphere of Los Primos is part of its charm. Customer reviews reflect the warmth of the staff and the sense of community fostered over years of dedicated service. Longtime patrons appreciate the clean, inviting space while newcomers often remark on the unexpected delight of discovering a restaurant that blends cultures and flavors so seamlessly. One customer fondly shares their experience of the “warm and tasty oatmeal in a cup,” alongside satisfying plates like tender oxtails and heartwarming roasted chicken with rice and beans — dishes that truly fill the heart and soul.

More than just a meal, dining at Los Primos feels like being embraced by an extended family where the food is honest and made with love. The combination of authentic Dominican and broader Latin American dishes, coupled with excellent service and an inviting atmosphere, makes it a must-visit for those seeking a Caribbean escape without leaving Brooklyn.

Whether you're a local or just passing through, Los Primos invites you to sit down, savor each bite, and experience the rich tapestry of Caribbean cuisine that has kept customers coming back for over 30 years. From the crispy tostones to the flavorful birria and comforting gazpacho, this is a place that honors tradition while welcoming everyone with open arms and an unforgettable menu.

Stopped in because we saw potato balls on the sign out front as we were walking by and they did not disappoint! Ended up getting a couple of their soups as well and they were delicious too.
